About Project

About Project

The European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI) and World Health Organization (WHO) have called for urgent action in order to deal with the death and health complications because of the increase in the birth rate in Europe.

The death rate of newborn infant and the pregnant takes place on the top in our country like other countries.

We must provide people survive no matter who they are or which nationalities they belong to.

Turkey comes in first in the rate of infant death in Europe. Every 21 infants in thousand infants in Turkey has been dying and on the other hand, four and half infants has been dying in European Union (EU). Our country must decrease the rate of infant death, which is six times higher than the one in EU.

Baby death rate in Keskin in which our school is located is higher than other districts. It is realized that newborn baby care carried on by their parents living in Keskin, especially in its village is not enough resulted from the activities of medical screening, on-site education and research carried on for these parents.

The internship opportunities in newborn baby care as well asphysical facilities and materials used in newborn baby care in our schoolare not enough. This problem can be solved thanks to giving opportunities to our students to do internship in the full- fledged hospitals with expert staffs and neonatal units.

Our project named “Newborn Health and Care Services” includes 18 students from the nurse and midwife assistance departments in vocational high school of health and 2 teachers. Our participants will get vocational and internship training in Bethesda Children Hospital and BVHSZC KanizsayDorottyaSzakképzöIskolája/ Healthcare Vocational School in Budapest for three weeks.

Our primary aims are to prevent irreversible damages occurred in premature and born vaginally babies’ health complications, to increase the rate of survival and recovery pace and to gain information and skills applied for newborn infants’ care.

In addition, our Project aims to increase the number of innovative students who follow the change in their departments and develop projects in vocational education, to develop language skills, to make contribution to awareness of being European in education by working in cooperation with EU and to train effective personnelfor health department.

Our internship program has been shaped in the direction of the needs and professional profiles of the participants. We focus on applied internships in an interactive and international environment. It is a practical and active practice involving groups such as creating, polling, patient monitoring, introducing, newborn file format, neonatal information, application, newborn and premature examination, nutrition and care. Students participate regularly case presentations made at 08.30 every morning. After the clinical complaints and laboratory findings of a patient selected in a clinical trial or a follow-up clinic, they are referred to the differential diagnosis and diagnostic steps and treatment approach. The internship is based on practical training and exchange of group activities and learning and practicing.
